Supposedly a romantic comedy about single parents (Michelle Pfeiffer, George Clooney) who fall in love after sharing babysitting responsibilities and career crises, One Fine Day is more like an argument against reproduction. Pfeiffer plays a divorcee who juggles her architecture career and playtime with her young son. When flighty reporter/single dad (Clooney) is late to drop off his daughter for carpool, solo mother and father are forced to babysit for each other throughout the day. Of course, terrible things happen--such as the kids getting offered crack at daycare. Not only does the film make children out to be charming pains-in-the-ass, but it also takes issue with single parenting. "You can't do it alone!" is the unfair message here. Not recommended. (L.
