A gritty, suspenseful crime drama set in Ireland, this four-part Irish miniseries revolves around investigative reporter Terry Corcoran (Finbar Lynch), who manages to link the seemingly unrelated deaths of a car thief and a corrupt accountant to the rise to power of Miles Carrick (Byran Murray), the soon-to-be-elected Prime Minister who may have ties to organized crime. Corcoran enlists the aid of Danish-Albanian activist Nina Kupreka (Sidse Babett Knudsen) and press liaison Maureen Boland (Orla Brady) in his search for evidence tying Carrick to everything from money laundering to human trafficking. Although American audiences may not fully appreciate some of the machinations depicted and discussed (it helps to be fairly conversant with European Union politics to understand all the side references), the thriller aspects of Proof make it a richly satisfying watch. Recommended. (E. Hulse)
