Billed as a combination of the "external ballet of the seas with the music of Hilary Stagg," this relaxation nature music video combines nice (but not blow your socks off) underwater cinematography with nice (but not blow your socks off) New Age music by electric harp player Hilary Stagg. The camera follows tropical fish, sea turtles, squid, and other denizens of the deep in repetitive sequences while the equally repetitive music of Stagg (which, like much New Age music, is pleasant without being truly engaging) serves as an aural backdrop. Not a meticulously music-to-image edited piece like the Godfrey Reggio/Philip Glass collaborations (such as Koyaanisqatsi), nor a beautifully shot underwater journey (such as Life on the Reef [VL-5/95]), Real Sanctuary is slightly better than average, a kind of elevator television, if you will. Optional. Aud: P. (R. Pitman)
