This mash-up featuring crime-fighting talking Great Dane Scooby-Doo and his Mystery Inc. friends along with ‘70s rock supergroup KISS is really as strange as it sounds. Taking place at the fictional KISS World amusement park, Scooby, Shaggy, Daphne, and Velma—Fred prefers the styling of “The Ascot Five”—slather on the requisite KISS makeup and elbow their way into helping the band (whose hobby is solving mysteries “on a cosmic level”) get to the bottom of a whodunit surrounding the freaky Crimson Witch, who is wreaking havoc and scaring off the paying crowds. Flying around in a stinky red cloud, the witch constantly rasps “Give me ROCK!”, which the gang eventually determines has something to do with an ancient space realm, musical energy, destructive evil, and the guys from KISS (Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Eric Singer, and Tommy Thayer, all providing their own voices). Also featuring the voices of Garry and Penny Marshall, Kevin Smith, and Darius Rucker, this insane vanity project sports plenty of edgy jokes, flashy action sequences, classic Scooby tropes, and beloved KISS songs, although it's hard to say who the best audience for this might be. Bonus features include production featurettes and bloopers. Recommended. Aud: P. (J. Williams-Wood)
