What can you say about a film in which cannibalistic sisters in a cabin in the middle of the Michigan nowhere looking to catch their latest meal is merely the beginning of nearly two hours of stultifying horror schlock? When Hollywood animator Tom Kempton (Alex McArthur) is separated from his friends during a snowmobiling vacation, he ends up trussed up as a tasty snack for Vanessa Boulette (Laura Esterman) and her Annie Wilkes-wannabe sibling, Ann (Sage Allen). Unfortunately, he survives, and then Suspended Animation gets really silly. Even though director John Hancock seems to thinks he's reached a new pinnacle in sophisticated psychological horror, this poorly conceived, badly acted tale has nowhere to go but down from its strenuously over-the-top kickoff. Not recommended. [Note: DVD extras include a seven-minute behind-the-scenes featurette, a text bio and filmography of director John Hancock, and a photo gallery. Bottom line: a negligible extras package for a negligible film.] (M. Johanson)
