Former FCC chief Newton Minow once referred to television as "a vast wasteland"; unfortunately, the new computer-animated entry from Miramar Productions, TeleVoid, doesn't improve the landscape all that much. Comprised--as most computer-animated videos are these days--of unrelated sequences strung together in a manner that suggests but never actually achieves narrative, the eleven segments offered here are a mixed bag set to a musical score by Scott Rockenfield (Queensryche) and Paul Speer. The framing device has a skeleton named Skully channel-surfing through dreck on TV, stopping on the (supposedly) choice bits: a space opera bombing mission (with footage obviously drawn from different sources), a fly-through of an Egyptian pyramid, a haunting MTV-quality (when it's good) ode called "Chasing Blue Sky" and the super-kinetic "Mind Suck" (with a guest appearance by Sir Mix-A-Lot). As eye candy goes, this is intermittently engaging for general audiences, but it's sure to appeal to older teens. [Note: the program contains brief nudity and mild profanity.] A strong optional purchase. Aud: P.
