Academy-Award-winning actress Anna Paquin plays tomboy Frankie Adams in The Member Of The Wedding, based on the novel by Carson McCullers and adapted for the screen by David W. Rintels. The film follows a girl on the verge of puberty, whose daydreams turn obsessive when she learns her brother is returning home to be married. Rintels captures the world of prepubescent longings and frustrations, while also accurately portraying young heartbreak. As Frankie's nanny, Alfre Woodard gives a superb performance, depicting a woman who loves as a parent, but must detach like an employee. If you loved Rebecca Miller's Angela, you'll love The Member of the Wedding. Highly recommended. Editor's Choice. (L. Russo)
