Matt Farnsworth proves to be a six-fold contributor to this cheesy 2011 slasher movie; not only did he write, direct, and edit, but he also served as producer and cinematographer, and takes a major role as a heroic cop. Unfortunately, Farnsworth fails to exhibit much talent in any of these capacities. In a plot recalling genre schlock from the 1970s and ‘80s, an unnamed man—traumatized since childhood after witnessing the murder of his parents—escapes from the mental institution where he has long been warehoused. Donning a mask like other genre baddies, he goes on a killing spree at the Catholic school where the nuns mistreated him as an orphan—and where his sister (Diane Foster) is now a member of the staff (despite the fact that she dresses like a hooker). This threadbare premise is merely an excuse for intermittent explosions of blood, gore, and torture porn. But even in terms of effects, the movie is third-rate, and the slaughter scenes are choppily edited and accompanied by wearyingly bombastic music. Not recommended. (F. Swietek)
