As the title implies, this handsome but formula cartoon--set against the Spanish conquistadors' arrival in the Yucatan--boasts a Bob Hope-Bing Crosby rapport between Kevin Kline and Kenneth Branagh, who voice a pair of stowed-away con men with a mysterious map that leads them to an Aztec city of gold. Not terribly original and teeming with stock animation characters (animal sidekick; sexy, sassy love interest; antagonist with supernatural powers), this effervescent film (featuring a score by Elton John) manages to weave an adventure that inspires ear-to-ear grins anyway as our get-rich-quick heroes try to keep up appearances after being mistaken for gods. Recommended. (R. Blackwelder)
