In yet another adultery-themed entry from China, this beautifully lensed rural potboiler stars Jiang Wenli as Xinghua, faithful wife to an abusive, semi-captialist pig of a husband who searches for reputed treasure under the Great Wall, and wants a son very badly. When Xinghua's husband hires a sensitive guy her in the garden, the duo predictably fall in love/lust. The surprisingly strong feminist ending is laudable but not particularly believable. Optional.
