Italian director Lina Wertmüller serves up her characteristic mad mix of sex and politics in this decidedly whirling tale of a leftist-leaning unemployed mechanic named Tunin (Tullio Solenghi), who becomes sexually aroused whenever he's around the pro-business village hairdresser Rossella (Veronica Pivetti), but who discovers he must surrender his political allegiances if he has any hope of scratching that particular itch. Solenghi and Pivetti are certainly a dynamic couple, and they expend a great deal of energy trying to capture our interest, but no amount of effort could make this banal material engaging. Wertmüller has always been preoccupied with the curious bedfellows that sex and politics make, but she has addressed this subject with much more intelligence and humor in the past. Not recommended.
