Based on the true story of Graham Young, a British lad who poisoned his stepmother, went to a mental institution, and then returned to his trade upon his release, Benjamin Ross's black comedy is--depending on how you look at it--either a generous homage to Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange or an outright rip-off. Unfortunately, Ross shows neither Kubrick's cinematic brilliance nor his sense of balance; still, older teens toying with nihilistic feelings (the Marilyn Manson crowd) will happily guzzle this somewhat diluted draught of nasty spirits. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
