Hong Kong action hero Tony Leung provides some serious competition for Jackie Chan in the martial-arts department in this stunt-filled thriller. Playing a smooth-tongued private eye, Leung's character teams up with an interior designer (Ekin Cheng) and a jilted bride (pop singer Kelly Chen) in search of a bigshot gangster (Toru Nakamura). Despite annoyingly frequent changes in camera speed and English dubbing (except on the subtitled DVD) that matches lip movements fairly well but still sounds phony, this playfully humorous chop-socky flick still kicks butt as a decent straight-to-video outing for hard-core fans of the genre, with credit in no small part going to the high-kicking cast. Optional for larger collections. (T. Rich)
