Not as snappy as Get Shorty, but a great ensemble cast and a gallery of colorful characters help Paul Schrader's faithful film of Elmore Leonard's offbeat non-crime novel. Skeet UIrich stars as Juvenal, whose ability to heal looks to be the salvation of shiny-suited hustler Bill Hill (Christopher Walken--who else?). Tom Arnold rebounds from The Stupids and Big Bully as a woman-hating fanatic, with Janeane Garofalo as a skeptical reporter and Gina Gershon as a confrontational talk show host. Optional. (K. Lee Benson)[DVD Review— Feb. 19, 2008—MGM, 98 min., R, $14.98—Making its first appearance on DVD, 1997's Touch sports a great transfer, but no DVD extras. Bottom line: not the best of the Elmore Leonard adaptations, but still fun, this is a strong optional purchase.]
