An eclectic cast of Hollywood heavyweights play "Mafia". Misleadingly billed as a "goofy" goodfella flick, Trigger Happy's only comic relief is a one-liner--everyone's name seems to be Mick or Vick or Nick. Richard Dreyfuss, kvetching and loony, is most unconvincing, even as a "funny" mob boss. And while Ellen Barkin (Rita) is fetching in ‘30s eveningwear, her wannabe-wiley character comes off as nothing more than an armpiece, worn by an aloof Jeff Goldblum (Mick). In addition to the unintelligible plot and wavering accents, the film fails to live up to its title. Only a few insipid mobsters are knocked off and without much flair. Continuity problems and clichéd "bad guy" dialogue abound in Trigger Happy. By the end, one can't help but wish the entire cast of pernicious peabrains dead. (A. Glover)
