Remember this lanky, lantern-jawed, shaggy-haired standup comic from the 1970s? You know, the fellow who made a name for himself trading quips with audience members and then spraying them with the detritus of foodstuffs he smashed to bits with a large wooden mallet? Yeah, Gallagher. Guess what? His zany act hasn't changed: true, the hair is a little grayer, but the lame jokes, ham-fisted topical asides, and bad puns are every bit as annoying today as they ever were. When, after exhausting his meager supply of gags, Gallagher pulls out his trusty “Sledge-O-Matic” and goes to work, you'll swear you've stepped into a time machine dialed back about 30 years. If you enjoyed Gallagher's “comedy” back in the day, add a star for this purportedly “lost” television special. Otherwise, this is not recommended. Aud: P. (E. Hulse)
