This clever but somewhat unrealized high-concept sci-fi thriller is about two versions of the same man (played by Sam Trammell) who swap places in parallel realities. Inept corporate lawyer Derrick Hall is feebly bucking against the legacy of his late, super-attorney father and overbearing control of his mother (Celia Weston). Unable to steer his own destiny or please his fiancée (Susan May Pratt), Derrick wakes up one morning in the life of Zane Waye (another no-account son of a beloved dad--in this case a murdered cop), a would-be musician caught up in the criminal misdeeds of his brother Ian (Erik Jensen). Both men try to get their bearings in each other's life, with both (not surprisingly) proving to have the smarts and skills his doppelganger lacks. A great idea that is sometimes obscured by writer-director Nevil Dwek's unexciting visual execution, Undermind is a strong optional purchase. (T. Keogh)
