This comes to us courtesy of Tad Low and Woody Thompson, the producers who created the Pop-Up Video program for MTV. For those unfamiliar with "pop-up," the basic idea is that captions are inserted into music videos, providing a wealth of satirical, relevant and irrelevant information for the viewer. In this Christmas version, seven fairly weak Christmas music videos, plus an excerpt from one of the numerous film versions of A Christmas Carol, have been appropriated by the Pop-Up Video folks. The best music video is Buster Poindexter's "Zat You, Santa Claus?", but that doesn't mean it's the best pop-up video. That distinction probably goes to Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You." Low and Thompson also have plenty of information and asides concerning lame-o Christmas videos from Run DMC, Squeeze, RuPaul, Wendy and Carnie Wilson, and Billy Squier. Optional. Aud: P. (P. Van Vleck)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
