It's been nearly a decade since we reviewed Victor Borge: On Stage with Audience Favorites (VL-10/88), saying that "this erudite, witty musical wizard has been thrilling audiences for decades with his wildly inventive takeoffs on our most cherished musical classics." Victor Borge's Funniest Moments offers highlights from over a half century of classic Borge bits: "The Timid Page Turner" (which still makes me laugh--even though I know the piece by heart), "Inflationary Language," "Phonetic Pronunciation," and a great bit with The Muppets, where Borge plays "Moonlight Sonata" so languidly that he puts the bust of Beethoven to sleep. Victor Borge is a national treasure, and this compilation is truly a gifted selection of the funnyman's oeuvre (pronounced "work"). At the library price of $13.97, it's an exceptional deal to boot. Highly recommended. Editor's Choice. Aud: P. (R. Pitman)
