Testicle jokes? Nods to R-rated films? Barney bashing? Welcome to Executive Producer Steven Spielberg's latest Animaniacs cartoon, which finds puppy siblings Wakko, Yakko and Dot, as well as sundry others, in a race towards a wishing star that holds only one wish. The endless Hollywood references (are young kids hip to Hitchcock asides?), smacks up aside the head (delivered by Brain, a male, to Pinky, a self-professed "stupid" female), and utter absence of genuine heartfelt feeling make this one a definite pass. Not recommended. Aud: P. (R. Pitman)[DVD Review—Oct. 21, 2014—Warner, 81 min., not rated, $19.98—Making its first appearance on DVD, 1999's Animaniacs: Wakko's Wish features a nice transfer and a Dolby Digital surround soundtrack, but no extras. Bottom line: fans may appreciate this DVD debut, but most others are likely to find this disappointing.]
