Even in his 70s, playing a man strapped into a wheelchair and (supposedly) paralyzed by a stroke, Paul Newman is magnetic as aged bank robber Henry Manning, who finds himself out of the can for the first time in years when he's transferred to a nursing home in this cheerful caper comedy. Linda Fiorentino co-stars as a sultry nurse, bored with her hum-drum existence and looking for a little adventure. She suspects Newman is faking his symptoms, playing possum while waiting for a chance to escape, and after going to outrageous lengths to call him on it, she vows to keep his secret on the condition that he make her his partner in crime. Where the Money Is may be little more than a modest, amiable matinee heist romp, but with Newman as its axis it's nothing if not entertaining. A strong optional purchase. (R. Blackwelder)
