People who try really hard to be funny rarely are, and on-camera hosts "Frank" and "Christie" who trade one-liners with something less than exquisite timing, try really hard in this so-so camcorder first aid course. In no particular order the program does indeed offer 101 tips and hints some of which are good (send a "video letter"), and many of which are obvious (pan slowly to avoid a chaotic looking scene). On the plus side, however, there is some useful information here on a wide variety of topics: tripods, being aware of temperature changes, different kinds of microphones, audio dubbing, white balancing, lenses, shooting school plays and weddings, etc. No great shakes on the production end, but there are some helpful tips and the subject is a popular one. An optional purchase. (Available from: New Age Video, 62 Union Ave., Center Moriches, NY 11934; (516) 878-2096.)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
