Quilt artist Nancy Lee Chong here teaches viewers how to make an 11” x 17” quilted wall hanging, using the needleturn technique on two pieces of fabric. Prefacing her close-up, step-by-step instructions are sections on supplies, fabric and pattern preparation, and stitches (including left-handed views and the alternate technique of sewing toward oneself, rather than away). After the piece has been appliquéd, Chong demonstrates how to finish it (squaring off, binding, and affixing a sleeve). Although clearly designed for those already somewhat knowledgeable in the sewing arts (after the quilting pattern has been drawn on the quilt top, we next see the piece completely quilted and assembled, with batting and underside fabric attached), this program—which includes a pattern and yardage measurements—is recommended. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
