Granted, what the world needs now is not another golf video. Even so, this is an excellent niche program for the millions of male and female golfers who have entered their twilight years, and have the time to go out and knock a ball around the back 40. Jay Overton, an instructor at the Innisbrook Golf Resort in Tarpon Springs, Florida, leads a group of seniors through the basics. After discussing the problems which beset seniors (loss of muscle tone, primarily), he urges a return to the basics. Unlike many instructors, Overton doesn't advocate specific golf swings. Rather, he shows how an understanding of ball flight patterns and stances are more important. Most important of all, he says, is to aim for the target--something people caught up in their swing styles tend to forget. In addition to the basics, Overton and his assistant offer advice on putting, chip shots, and distance shots. In the end, Overton says, seniors should have fun, be comfortable, and use his teaching method as a means of practice--not instant professionalism. Highly recommended.
