Presented in the old-fashioned style of filmmaking, A Video Travel Guide to Prague, Czechoslovakia, offers a large amount of useful information to offset its somewhat dry presentation. While voiceover narration offers historical background on the city, the camera takes in some of the lovelier art and architectural sights, from Prague Castle to the House of the Black Madonna. Much of the Gothic and Baroque architecture escaped the devastating winds of war, and some viewers will recognize some of the scenery here from expatriate Czech filmmaker Milos Forman's Amadeus. In addition to the lovely sights, the tape offers some unusual information: touring the city by bus runs about $15, while touring the city by air balloon costs about $150. The area is famous for its lead crystal and the shops carry a wide variety of it. There's even a section on the weather. Too, hotels are rated form the ritzy to the budget, and the tape concludes with some important phone numbers (such as the embassy). Recommended for larger travel collections.
