Acorn Entrepreneurs: Visions of Young Enterprises

"Small business" takes on a whole new meaning when you hear a nine-year old discussing his philosophy of capitalism. This video profiles eight young people ranging from age 9-17, giving insight into how they began their businesses, how they run them, and how they manage school and other interests in addition to their ventures. While most of the students obviously received substantial capital, moral and advisory support from their parents, a couple are particularly proud of doing everything on their own. The businesses discussed are a dog-biscuit making enterprise, newsletter publication, a magic show, antiques buying and selling, software game development, book publishing, and printing. (Significantly, two of these endeavors began as an outgrowth of school projects.) The interesting variety may give young viewers ideas about raising a few bucks for themselves, and while some of the young people don't plan on making their enterprises a life-long career, they all are enjoying what they're doing now.
