Aerobics instructor Eva Montee, who has taught aerobics for twenty years, guides viewers through a vigorous non-impact aerobic session conducted in a chair. Divided into fives sections, the program includes a gradual body warm-up, a full aerobic workout, a cool down session, a set of muscle strengthening exercises using the Dyna-Band (which is sort of like a giant piece of rubber band and is included with the video), and a group of flexibility exercises. Montee is very thorough (there are even exercises for individual fingers), and has a keen understanding of the way the muscle groups work. Although a few of the exercises will seem silly to some (shooting basketballs, milking a cow, fiddling, washing clothes, etc.), the difference between this program and the recently reviewed Chair Dancing (October 1992) is that Montee doesn't make you feel like you're in the middle of Mister Rogers' neighborhood. The program itself, which provides an excellent workout for senior citizens and those with disabilities, is highly recommended. However, it should be noted that, in addition to the accompanying Dyna-Band, Aerobic Sitting also comes packaged in an oversize box (roughly 7 in. by 10 in.), which may raise processing concerns for some libraries. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
