“Come on baby, do the locomotion!” An infant's first year is filled with exciting milestones as he or she evolves from being a helpless newborn to walking around and interacting with others. Amazing Babies follows the same group of babies over one year (in 1995), observing their patterns of growth and development (an initial graphic notes that monthly targets are approximate, though the narration points out that physical maturation is both predictable and sequential no matter what timetable a baby follows). Babies go from the basics (figuring out where their arms and legs are in space) to purposeful grasping, rolling over, crawling, standing, and finally walking (one notable sequence captures one baby trying to help her less-progressed friend stand up). While this Canadian production has a slightly different vocabulary (“creeping” for “crawling"), the differences are minor. Recommended. Aud: C, P. (R. Reagan)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
