Today, animation is not only a mainstay of popular entertainment, but is also heavily used in advertising and web applications. Animation in Multimedia explores the craft, from pre-production through post-production, examining various techniques employed, while interviews with professionals provide an insider's look into the step-by-step process of animation (character development, backgrounds, adding sound, using wire frames in 3-D work, etc.). Since this will most likely appeal either to viewers considering a career in animation, or those studying diverse facets of filmmaking, it's a shame that the production suffers somewhat from a too-general approach and slow pacing. While several roles within the animation process are introduced, the program makes no mention of individual skills required, nor are any specific computer programs or programming languages named, even though a substantial amount of the material here is on both 2-D and 3-D computer-generated animation. Optional. Aud: H, C, P. (E. Gieschen)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
