Asthma is the most common chronic childhood illness and can be quite deadly. This short video introduces viewers to the Figueroa family as they re-enact the discovery and treatment of the young daughter's asthma. Through animation and (somewhat self-conscious) live-action drama, the program teaches viewers what asthma is, what triggers an attack, long term controllers and short term relievers, and discusses a family's action plan. Because of the chronic nature of this condition, doctors must empower parents, teachers, coaches and young patients to manage and control asthma as a team. This video introduces and outlines in a clear and sensible way the steps families can take to manage asthma. Also available in a Spanish language version. Recommended. [Note: A companion video, Asthma, Asthma, You Can't Stop Me, aimed specifically at young children, is also available.] Aud: E, P. (N. Plympton)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
