Hoo, boy. Seeing as how I'm currently on Dr. Robert C. Atkins's popular high-protein, low-carb diet--enjoying meaty feasts of fat while actually losing weight--I really hate to trash his video. However, a reviewer's gotta do what a reviewer's gotta do, so let me express my disappointment right up front. This 2-tape set is basically a content-free infomercial, consisting almost solely of variations on the statements "It works--believe me!" and "Stop the tape and fill out your diet manual, then start the tape again." Dr. Atkins does explain the basic theory behind his diet, which is that if you do not eat carbohydrates, your body will instead use your fat for energy, but these tapes just do not provide enough information to either get a person seriously started on the diet, or even make the decision to start. The repeated references to the write-in manual clinch their unsuitability for library collections. Not recommended. Aud: P. (K. Glaser)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
