“It was like someone stole my baby's personality and mind and left his body,” says one mother of an autistic child. Hosted by Anthony Edwards (of “I'm not a doctor, I just play one on TV's ER” fame), this useful video is primarily targeted towards knowledgeable parents, educators, and healthcare professionals who care for or treat autistic children, and therefore does not spend a lot of time exploring the condition. Instead, the focus here is on the various components of The Advancement of Pediatric Autism Research Act, which was passed under the Children's Health Act of 2000. In this mostly talking-head video, parents, researchers, and lawmakers discuss legislative and medical support for newer, more centralized resources, timely treatments, and the search for a potential cure. Stressing the importance of quality care and good information in a non-condescending, practical way, Autism & the New Law holds out much-needed hope to those affected by autism. Recommended. Aud: P. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
