After a prolonged, and somewhat exaggerated, skit during which an uneducated babysitter is harassed, and eventually roped to her chair by unruly tykes, this program gets down to business. In brief, easy-to-follow segments, viewers learn: the role of the babysitter, the importance of establishing and maintaining a routine, safety tips and emergency procedures, how to feed young children, how to prepare children for bed and nap times, and a host of other handy suggestions. While the information is solid, the video and audio qualities--while not terribly distracting--are not of broadcast quality. A 20-page manual, which is not directly tied into the video program, is included. If you don't already have a video on babysitting in your collection, you might consider this one. Recommended, with the above technical reservations. (Available from: Cambridge Video, One Players Club Drive, Dept. CV3, Charleston, WV 25311; 1-800-468-4227.)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
