Aimed primarily at coaches, the second entry in the AVEC baseball instruction series (the first was Hitting With Matt Williams, reviewed in our May 1992 issue) features U of C Berkeley and U.S. Olympic Baserunning Coach Bob Milano offering solid tips and techniques for improving one's baserunning skills. Covering the peculiarities of each leg of the arduous journey from home to first to second to third and back to home, Milano and demonstrator Todd Mayo show viewers how to lead out of the box following a hit, proper body lean, how to round the bases, safe sliding techniques, reading the pitcher's cues, the fine art of stealing bases, and more. The program concludes with an interview with Milano by series' hosts Rich and Mike Aldrete, during which Milano emphasizes the importance of good grades and an education (even to the point of turning down a professional offer after high school if there is a chance for the player to attend college.) A good program on baserunning which will benefit serious players as well as coaches at all levels of the game. Recommended.
