The emphasis in this video is on "basic." In a friendly and absolutely unimaginative way, this video provides a basic overview of how to plan and prepare a safe trip in the wilderness. The essential qualities to look for in tents, backpacks, sleeping bags, stoves, boots, clothing and food are all covered. Travel safety, campsite selection and responsible hiking etiquette are discussed. There isn't a whole lot in this tape that you couldn't find in a book, and it's not going to win any awards for insight, profundity, or artistic merit, but at $19.95 it contains solid information and is probably a worthwhile purchase for most "basic" collections.
