Written and produced by Amy Ogle, a registered dietitian who holds degrees in nutrition and exercise physiology, this tape teaches women of child-bearing age how to prepare their bodies for a healthy pregnancy through proper nutrition, exercise, and healthy lifestyle habits. Using a question-answer format, Ogle presents timely and useful information on several nutrition-related topics, including food groups, supplements, artificial sweeteners, determining a healthy body weight, and substances that may be harmful, and the tape includes sections on strength training and exercise. The topics are addressed in greater depth in the accompanying booklet, which also includes a bibliography of over 60 referenced sources. One of the better "pregnancy-prep" videos available, Before Your Pregnancy offers information that is not only current, relevant, and well researched, but also presented in an interesting and engaging manner. The topics are discussed in language that is not too technical and will be easily understood by nearly all teens and adults, while the exercises are adequately demonstrated and safety tips are provided. Highly recommended. Aud: P. (L. Stevens)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
