Instructor Lillian Walz knows how to make candles, but--unfortunately--the video's young producer, Shea Sayler, couldn't let Walz simply demonstrate for the camera. Instead, Sayler chose to co-present, and she is an active distraction and detraction (adding unnecessary remarks, constantly giggling, and making comments that disparage the craft). In fact, the impression one gets is that Walz is valiantly trying to show a self-absorbed teenager something, while the teen tries to be cute. High school projects have had better sets, lighting and sound, not to mention more poised and professional on-screen talent, and while some craft videos can be recommended in spite of amateurish production or presentation, sadly, this isn't one of them. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
