Beyond Death's Door: Help for the Grieving Process After Someone You Love Has Died

A rabbi, a minister, and a grief counselor explore what used to be called "mourning" in this helpful guide to grieving, which also includes interviews with people who have lost loved ones--primarily parents who have dealt with a child's death through either illness, suicide or murder. The last two topics differentiate this tape from numerous similar titles, which tend to focus on grief following a terminal illness. On the minus side, the video features mediocre-to-bad poetry and "soft touch" images such as people walking alone on a beach, a common cliché in death and dying tapes. However, the video does come with a handy booklet that includes addresses, toll free telephone numbers and web addresses for support groups such as Parents of Murdered Children and the American Association of Suicidology. Overall, public libraries and houses of worship should consider purchasing, especially if there is a Compassionate Friends group in the community. Recommended.
