A very thorough fly fishing instructional program aimed at intermediate anglers, Beyond the Basics & Reading Water provides tips and guidelines in over 25 segments ranging from "Flys," "Leaders & Lines," and "Casts & Retrieves" to "Gain Mobility Using a Flotation Device." Fishing instructor Bill Marts and producer/hosts Jim and Kelly Watt (from Outdoor Network and ESPN) share their expertise on how to read water, choose the appropriate fly, cast from shore, and other techniques necessary to be an effective angler, with clear demonstrations and handsome photography. Aside from all the practical advice, Marts also offers an additional reminder for those anglers inclined to take their sport a little too seriously--namely, that the purpose of fishing is to have fun!
