Laura Buxton is the host for the straightforward, short, and very inexpensive guide Breast Self-Examination. In clear, concise language, viewers are told and shown how to conduct both visual and tactile examinations of the breasts; what to look for in the way of changes; and advised as to how often they should perform the examination. The video concludes by advising women to have yearly mammography exams. Another version, much higher priced, of the second title was favorably reviewed in our March, 1988 issue under the title The Breast: A Realistic Guide to Self-Examination and Mammography. This new version, which has eliminated the mammography section, provides more of an overview (cancer statistics, recommendations from the American Cancer Society, etc.) than does the Scripps-Howard tape. Both titles are recommended. (See AMONG FRIENDS for availability of Breast Self-Examination) (Every Woman's Guide to Breast Self-Examination is available from most distributors.)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
