Brett the Jet
After Cody and Tyler, two brothers who are having problems working together building a model jet fighter, are sent to their respective rooms, they apparently have a mutual dream in which Brett the Jet, a happy little 3-D animated plane in goggles and scarf, shows them why teamwork is so important, especially in aviation. The lucky young boys get to hang out with top precision aviators, such as the U.S. Thunderbirds (the F-16 demonstration pilots), the U.S. Army Golden Knights (precision parachutists), and other aeronauts. Now, if I were able to fly with skydivers and take a loop-de-loop helicopter ride, I'd be pretty excited, but our two little hosts mostly stand there stiffly while the pilots talk about rudders and cockpits and such. While the video jacket promises "never-before-seen flying footage that has been described as among the most exciting ever shot," the most "exciting" scene featured a man climbing from a biplane onto helicopter skids in mid-flight without a harness (apparently, safety is not a concern in this primer on teamwork). Overall, the production values are low, with static camerawork and occasionally unintelligible sound. Still, the rock-bottom price, coupled with the fact that kids like big fast jets, makes this an optional purchase. Aud: K, E, I, P. (E. Gieschen)
