Professional dancer and choreographer Brian Fortuna (Dancing with the Stars, BBC's Strictly Come Dancing) aims to take viewers “from beginner to dancer in one easy hour” in this simply-produced instructional guide that includes two classes—waltz and foxtrot. Fortuna and a female partner demonstrate moves for several couples here, and while there are a few corny jokes (after separating the men from the women to illustrate a technique, Fortuna cracks to the ladies, “Now that we've gotten rid of the guys…let's go!”), the instruction is solid, with “DanceCam” insets and other camera angles helping to ensure that viewers keep on track with their moves. Along the way, Fortuna points out common mistakes while also stressing that participants should “do what's comfortable for you.” Bonus features include more advanced steps and tips (with a wedding dance), as well as segments on Fortuna and the class participants. Also newly available in the series is Latin Dance for Beginners. Recommended. Aud: P. (J. Williams-Wood)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
