Given the myriad parenting titles available--many swearing to create certifiable geniuses before preschool--it can be difficult to decide where to spend precious AV dollars. Although many titles have a single emphasis, Brightening Minds: Birth to Two Years offers excellent bang for the budget buck, synthesizing several current ideas in a parent-friendly, research-backed, reasonably-priced DVD. Topics include infant brain development, encouraging pre-reading skills, maximizing the benefits of music, helping develop pre-math skills, markers for language development, infant massage, and information on “ages and stages” for the first two years of life, with solid suggested enrichment activities accompanying each segment.
