Because our lives are becoming increasingly segmented and frenetic, we working parents must be organized about our time. For those with only a little time to devote to a good video on the broad topic of our relationship with our children, this one fills the bill. Advice is segmented into three categories: the first is about setting priorities and having realistic expectations both for yourself and your child, the second deals specifically with divorced moms and the effects of separation on everyone, and the third covers choosing a daycare. These are really gigantic topics that deserve lots of careful consideration, but this tape lays some of the foundation and gets parents moving in the right direction. The program also includes some practical tips for dealing with overtime at work, how to looks for signs that may indicate a child is in trouble after a divorce, and shopping strategies. Although short and a bit pricey for a parenting video, this is highly recommended. The other titles in the 5-part series are: Preschooler Discipline: Making It a Positive Experience, Ages and Stages: Knowing What to Expect and When, Preparing Your Preschooler for Success in School, and Handling Anger, Temper Tantrums and Sibling Rivalry Effectively.
