Of course, no one likes a bully, but why are they the way they are? How can you help them? What if you're being bullied--what do you do? Worse, what if you're the bully? All these questions are answered in this fast-paced, practical, non-preachy video, which utilizes both on-the-spot interviews with kids and two dramatic scenarios shot in a documentary style. Because adults only appear for last-ditch intervention or counseling (even the narrators are older teens), kids learn that they can be empowered to work out problems for themselves, as well as be good role models and friends to their peers. Positive assertive techniques are demonstrated, and the program realistically acknowledges the roller-coaster fragile emotions of juveniles. While the interviews convincingly describe common experiences, the dramatic scenarios are slightly unrealistic (happy endings for all); still they are presented in the language and point-of-view of kids. The useful accompanying curriculum is in-depth and will challenge students to think about and apply the concepts learned here. Recommended. Aud: I, J. (E. Gieschen)
