One of the perennial "black holes" in libraries, career information is hard to come by on video. Career Hunter is divided into two parts. Part 1, "Getting Ready", features interviews with several jobholders (a waitress, filmmaker, surveyor, painter, teacher, truck driver, etc.) and career counselors. The emphasis here is on the importance of knowing what your interests are, and how to translate your past experiences into usable job information. Part 2, "The Market", counsels job seekers to look into careers libraries, research information on companies they're interested in, and to consider the possibilities of apprenticeship programs and summer employment. The program ends with a rather scattershot approach to pointing out fields where there are current job openings. Overall, "scattershot" pretty much typifies the modus operandi of the entire program, but for the job seeker that's willing to sift the wheat from the chaff, this would be a worthwhile tape to watch. Recommended for libraries with strong career collections.
