What do people want to know when researching various career avenues? My guess would be an overview of typical job duties, educational requirements, average salary, employment outlook, and where to turn for additional information. Oddly, Careers for the 21st Century--from the production company that created one of the best career video series we've reviewed (Video Career Library, in VL-5/89) is the only career program or series we've recently seen which addresses all or even most of the above topics. We watched Business & Administrative Support Occupations, one of 21 titles which, taken together, covers over 170 career possibilities. Each of the segments--which examined positions such as receptionist, stock clerk, customer service representative, insurance adjuster, and court reporter, among others--combines interview footage, on-the-job scenes, and on-screen lists, numbers, and resource addresses, providing a comprehensive and informative introduction to each job. Highly recommended. Aud: J, H, C, P. (R. Pitman)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
