Lights! Excitement! Fame! Most people see a media-related career as glamorous and desirable, but what's the real story? This entry in the Careers in the 21st Century series presents a panel of professionals, ranging from a model to an advertising executive, who discuss their experiences and answer questions posed by a bored-looking teenage audience. The program's talk-show format is stiff and shot from odd angles, with occasional sound drop-outs (poor production values also plague the few semi-effective interviews edited into the video). While it can be interesting to hear media professionals relate their personal experiences and stories, some appear to be simply ego tripping on tape, and the only real advice offered here is more motivational (be flexible, be persistent, etc.) than practical. Other titles in the series include: Careers in Teaching, Careers in Law, and Careers in Computers. Not recommended. Aud: H, C, P. (E. Gieschen)
