Although it's hard to cover newborn care really well in only thirty minutes, this is a fine overview. Topics include: feeding, bathing, crying, temperature taking, jaundice, colic, safety rules, and circumcision. Newborn care is not for the squeamish, and the program doesn't shy away from showing the other ends of feeding, namely bowel movements and spitting up. Production values are high, chapter stops are included, real babies are used, and the information is up-to-date. As a quick lesson in parenting and a reassuring presence, this tape is more than adequate. Recommended for libraries who need additional baby care tapes. Aud: P. (E. Druda)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
