X-Files fans and Sonoma enthusiasts take heed: your exercise tape is in! This two videocassette (unnecessarily so at 75 minutes total) set features monotone instruction and the video companionship of a group of folks attired in a sort of Heaven's Gate meets '60s Star Trek wardrobe. These practitioners of magical passes (or tensegrity), devotees of the late Carlos Castaneda, lend a sort of ethereal air to the production that is either unsettling or a sensory enhancement depending on the viewer's point of view and tolerance for the vaunted Yaqui way of knowledge. The exercises are intended to "help anyone who practices them to reclaim what seers consider to be the birthright of every human being: our unbending intent to be vital and aware [a condition] best embodied by the clear sense of purpose and keen alertness of the saber-toothed tiger." [Quote from back of box.] Wouldn't the traditional Castanedian approach of gaining knowledge through mescaline use be easier and more fun? Not recommended for other than true believers. Aud: H, C, P. (M. Tribby)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
